BLOG 25: THE AMERICAN EMPIRE?

The ending of the Spanish-American War in December of 1898 transformed the U.S. into a world power, but also sparked a lot of controversy in the U.S over America’s status as an imperialistic country. The “Splendid Little War” as one politician described it had many detractors. Many people believed the gaining of colonies went against what the U.S. stood for.
